John and Meghan first met when they were teenagers. They remained friends over the years, but in July 2010, they reconnected and since then have remained inseparable. As their love for each other grew they knew that marriage was in their future. September 8, 2013, the family planned an early birthday cookout for Meghan as a coverup for John’s surprise proposal. John knew it would be the perfect opportunity to have all of the family with them for the big moment. Everyone gathered on the dock by the pond for family photos. When it was their turn, John got down on one knee and asked if Meghan would be his forever.
