Cantrell and Yvonne were married September 28, 2013 in Los Angeles, CA. Not only are they beautiful, successful, awesome people… They also both have hearts of gold. I first really got to spend time with them when I flew out to LA for their engagement session. The hospitality and warmth shown to me by everyone in the family was overwhelming and I will always cherish those precious memories. Needless to say, I was so excited when the wedding day finally came! As you can see, Cantrell and Yvonne put thought into every detail and truly had a dream wedding.
Congratulations again to Mr. and Mrs. Dumas!!! I can not wait to see you both again! XOXO!
HOW THEY MET:
Her Version
There are always many sides to a story and this is mine. Cantrell may have a different version, so you be the judge! Cantrell and I met in a parking lot in Hollywood. That’s right…the boy was “parking lot pimping.” Ha ha ha. I was just leaving club Les Deux with two of my girlfriends when I spotted him. He was driving out of the lot (VERY SLOWLY) when I said to my friend, “he’s cute.” First, he tried to approach me from inside his vehicle, however I wasn’t having it. He impressed me by getting out of his car to talk to me, all the while leaving his car parked in the middle of the lot. People were trying to get out of the lot and were honking, however Cantrell did not care. He made up for his earlier lapse in judgment. We exchanged numbers and spoke for hours later that night. I cancelled a trip to Vegas for a first date the next day instead. On our first date Cantrell was more than an hour late to…of all things…a Devin The Dude concert, however I was already charmed and decided to wait for him to show up. We were inseparable and by the end of the first week, I was in love and knew he was the one.
His Version
I was leaving a networking event in Hollywood. As I was driving out of the parking lot, I noticed a very attractive woman walking to her car. Apparently, this attractive woman was checking me out too because I overheard her telling her friends, “oh girl, he is cute.” That was my cue to speak to her. However, this attractive woman was not going to allow me to “holla at her” from my car. She insisted that I come over and talk to her. So, I came – all the while leaving my car running and unattended in the middle of an active Hollywood parking lot. This woman was not only beautiful, but smart and witty. I was smitten, and we have been inseparable ever since.
HOW HE PROPOSED:
Yvonne and I had planned a trip to Turks and Caicos. I wanted this trip to be the trip we tell our grandchildren about. The problem was how I was going to propose. There was a lot of pressure of trying to come up with a creative idea because this is The Story people will be asking forever. I had plenty of opportunities on our vacation to pop the question, but I did not like the settings in each opportunity, until our last day. Yvonne wanted to go to the beach and collect seashells to bring back home. I used this as my perfect opportunity.
At the beach, Yvonne was walking along the ocean shore looking for seashells. I asked her if she wanted me to join her. “Sure,” she says. As we were looking for seashells, I grabbed a bunch of sand from the bottom of the ocean floor. “Baby, I think I found the perfect shell. I think you should come over and look.” Yvonne came over and saw nothing but sand in my hand. “I’m sorry Baby. I thought I had something.” “That’s ok,” she replied. “Let’s keep looking.” We kept looking until about 5 minutes later. “Baby, come over. I really think I found a beautiful seashell!” But, this time I put the ring in the palm of my hand under the sand. Yvonne came over and saw nothing but sand. I saw the look of disappointment in her face. “Baby,” I said. “There is something hard under this sand in my hand.” She came closer. The sand started to dissolve from the water. There was the ring.
I got on one knee and asked, “Will you marry me?”
