Gia and Freddy actually met many years ago when she was 14 years old. Her family has a cottage on a lake in Michigan and they would often spend time there with their group of friends. Freddy had gone up with his brother who was dating (and is now engaged to) one of Gia’s friends. They started hanging out a little more as they got older, and eventually Gia moved to Florida. They started dating “officially” August 1, 2008, when Gia moved in with Freddy’s brothers girlfriend Ashley. At the time, Freddy lived in Georgia as he raced supercross and motocross. The couple drove back and forth on weekends and in between races. An injury eventually caused Freddy to need surgery on his shoulder in 2009. The surgery and subsequent physical therapy was in Jacksonville, FL. Gia and Freddy spent a lot of time at the beaches which eventually became the backdrop to their love story. Life and work eventually moved the couple to Indiana but their love of Jax Beach brings them back every chance they get. Saturday, April 6, 2013 (Freddy’s grandma and grandpa’s anniversary), Freddy popped the question! They went on an evening bike ride, locked their bikes up next to One Ocean Resort and went to the beach. At sunset Freddy grabbed the hand that had Gia’s promise ring on it, and said: “One of these days I’m going to replace this ring with a diamond!” Gia sarcastically replied: “Ok… One day… More like one year!”. Freddy then got down on one knee and said: “Gia Marie, will you marry me?” Gia of course said YES and they are now planning their dream wedding at One Ocean Resort!
I love that this couple is obviously in love and are definitely the best of friends… I can’t wait for the big day! XOXO
